  • A comparative study about dissolution profiles of mefenamic acid SNEDDS tested by the method of type II apparatus and beker method with glass beads has been done. This study aimed to determine the similarity between the method of type II apparatus and alternative method using a beaker with glass beads. This comparison study began by validating the analytical method and then comparing two dissolution test methods through the values of difference factor (f1) and similarity factor (f2) and also by statistical comparison. The results showed that this analytical method validation was accurate and precise because the parameter values were well within the limits (% recovery of 100.784%,% RSD of 0.333%, and R value of 0.9998) with LOD of 0.4433 ppm and LOQ of 1.4777 ppm. Mefenamic acid SNEDDS tested by type II apparatus and also by beaker method with glass beads were resulting similar dissolution profiles with difference factor (f1) of 4.6794 and similarity factor (f2) of 71.2002 (f1<15 and f2>50). Dissolution rate of mefenamic acid SNEDDS tested by the method of type II apparatus and beaker method with glass beads has reached release > 100% after 10 minutes of dissolution and followed Weibull release model with super case II transport release mechanism. Statistical analysis indicated that there was no significant difference in % release and % DE of the dosage forms tested by type II apparatus compared to the dosage forms tested by beaker method with glass beads (p>0.05). These results indicated that the alternative method of beaker with glass beads is able to give similar dissolution profile compared to the method of type II apparatus.
