  • The research objective was to determine relations of self control with smartphone addiction in students class 2 of senior high school 3 palembang. The study population was 415 grade 2 students in senior high school 3 in palembang who had a smartphone. The study used probability sampling with simple random sampling technique and set 191 student as the number of the respondents. Self-control scale was measured used aspects from Averill (1973). Smartphone addiction scale was measured used component from Kwon, et, al., (2013). Data analysis using the Pearson product moment method. The results of data analysis showed that there was a relationship between self-control and smartphone addiction in students class 2 of senior high school 3 palembang with a value of r = - 0.464 and p = 0.000 (p <0.05). It shows that selfcontrol has a significant relationship with smartphone addiction. Thus the hypothesis in this study was accepted. R had a negative value, it means that the higher the self-control, the lower the smartphone addiction experienced and vice versa.
