PERTUMBUHAN DAN PRODUKSI TANAMAN JAGUNG MANIS (Zea mays saccharata L.) DI TANAH PASANG SURUT DENGAN PEMUPUKAN N DAN K SPESIFIK LOKASI = THE GROWTH AND PRODUCTION OF MAIZE (Zea mays saccharata L.) IN TIDAL LANDS APPLIED BY N AND K FERTILIZERS ON SPESIFIC LOCATION
Daftar Isi:
- Tidal land can be used as an alternative for agricultural land such as food crops, one of them is maize crops. The development of maize should be paid attention to nutrient supply needed by maize to increase growth and production. Tidal land has a low soil fertility, this problem could be overcome by fertilization and calcification. The aim of this research was to know the effect of specific location of N and K fertilizer dosages on the growth and production of maize and to know the correct combination of specific N and K fertilizer dosages for maize plant in tidal land. This research was conducted from May until September 2017 at Greenhouse, Departement of Soil Science, Agricultural Faculty, Sriwijaya University. Soil analysis was conducted at Chemical, Biology and Soil Fertility Laboratory, Faculty Agriculture Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The method used in this research was Completely Randomized Design (RCD) with 6 treatments 3 replicates with 2 series, so there were 36 units of soil combination and given fertilizer treatment. The dose of N and K fertilizers consist of 6 levels: P1 (N: 121.14 kg ha-1 and K: 68.40 kg ha-1), P2 (N: 161.52 kg ha-1 and K: 91.21 kg ha-1), P3 (N: 201.9 kg ha-1 and K: 114.01 kg ha-1), P4 (N : 242.28 kg ha-1 and K: 136.81 kg ha-1), P5 (N: 282.66 kg ha-1 and K: 159.61 kg ha-1), and P6 (N: 323.04 kg ha-1 and K: 182.42 kg ha- 1). The variables observed in this study were N and K, soil pH, plant height, cob weight without cornhusk (g), cob weight with cornhusk (g), cob length (cm), cob diameter(cm), and production. Specific location N and K fertilizers did not significantly affect in height of plant, cob length, maize production, and total of N soil. However, significant effect on soil pH H2O, diameter of cob, weight of cob with weight and weight of cob seen without weight in maize plant. The given for N and K fertilizers with treatment of 75% showed a significantly higher treatment dose than other treatments, making it more efficient than other treatments. Production of maize plant in tidal soil was the highest of 75% treatment with production 629.32 kg ha-1. The given of specific for N and K sites at 75% could not be recommended on tidal land, although the production was the highest than other treatments. Further research on nutrient uptake of N and K by plants and the addition of organic matter was required.
