  • Ice-ice disease is a problem that is often faced by cultivators. The dominant ice-ice disease attacks the K. alvarezii seaweed grown with early clinical symptoms such as increased mucus production, rough thallus surface, wilted thallus, white spots, and bleaching of the tip of the thallus. The basic concept in this study is to analyze the role of fresh water with different time for 3 minutes, 5 minutes, and 7 minutes to see the growth rate and prevent ice-ice disease on K. alvarezii seaweed. The results of this study of fresh water immersion with a 7 minute immersion time resulted in better growth and the least attacked ice-ice disease compared to other treatments. Seaweed that is soaked fresh water for 3 minutes has a smaller growth compared with treatment and more attacked by ice-ice disease. In this study the daily growth rate of seaweed cultivation K. alvarezii at soaking 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 7 minutes and control showed good results (> 2% / day)
