  • Synthesis of nanopowder activated carbon from rubber seed shell using high energy milling (HEM) method with variation of milling time for 0 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes. The activated carbon was characterized using XRD and SEM. From the XRD diffraction pattern, it is known that the degree of crystallization or level of regularity of the activated carbon structure based on the milling time variation, the result tends to increase from 0,384% activated carbon without milling; 0,395% for 30 minutes milling to 60 minutes milling activated carbon is 0,529%. The degree of crystallinity decreases to 0,449% for 90 minutes milling time. From the SEM photo showing the surface morphology of the activated carbon changed from bulk with grain size is 155,74 μm before being milled into powder, then average size of grain is 6,664 μm after 30 minutes of milling. Agglumerating occurs at 90 minutes of milling time with an average grain size about 7805 μm.
