  • Background: Diabetes melitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglicemia caused by insulin secretion disorder, insulin work, or both. Diabetes melitus induced andropause in men. The role of HbA1c level is to be a parameter of glycemic index in diabetes melitus patients. In this research, the correlation between HbA1c level and andropause in diabetes melitus patients is expected. Method: An analytic observational research with cross-sectional design was conducted in Polyclinic of Endocrinology RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from November to December 2017. Total respondents were 70 male patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 and were selected by consecutive sampling. Data was collected by a structured interview with a questionnaire. Result: From 40 subjects, majority has andropause (85,0%) and uncontrolled diabetes mellitus (85,0%). Fisher's Exact Test analysis revealed that there is a significant correlation between HbA1c level and andropause (p=0,002, OR=32,0). Conclusion: There is significant correlation between HbA1c level with andropause in diabetes mellitus type 2 patients.
