  • Macro debris is a type of waste measuring 2.5 cm to 1 m . This debris is often obtained from the surface to the bottom of the water . The amount of macro debris in the surface flow and estuary of the Musi River potentially reduce aesthetics and damage the aquatic ecosystem . The purposes of this study were to identify the types and analyze the abundance of macrodebris on the surface flow and estuary of the Musi River . Research was conducted on an March 2018 bul in one day with a length ranging from 87 km along the surface of the stream and estuary of the Musi River in South Sumatera. The retrieval tool which used for macrodebris was trash net with a net size measuring 0.5 cm, height 30 cm, width 60 cm and a length of 1 m. Those net was drawn 5 minutes with speed ship of 1-2 knots. The results showed the type of macro debris found in surface flow and estuary of the Musi River is 4 types of material ; paper and cardboard, plastic, rubber and wood. The most dominant type of macrodebris material is plastic (84%), especially food wrap (PL31) around (41%).
