  • Temperature is a factor that affects the survival of fish during transportation with dry system. During transportation process, the fish can be maintained alive if the transport media is stable in low temperature. Frozen gel is cooling material providing cold temperatures in media even to -25 0C therefore the use of the frozen gel in media need to be observed for fish transport. This research aims to know the influence of frozen gel to maintain temperature during the shelf dry system transportation. This research was conducted in May until June 2017 at Budidaya Perairan Laboratory, Program Study of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, Indralaya. The method used Competely Randomized Design with three treatments and replicates : P1 (1 frozen gel / box), P2 (2 frozen gel / box), P3 (3 frozen gel / box). The parameters observed were packaging temperature, recovery time, survival rate after transportation, survival rate after rearing period and water quality. The result showed that two frozen gel can reduce temperature fluctuations packaging during the transportation. Using 2 frozen gel / box (P2) showed best result to tilapia fry survival rate (60.66%) of shelf dry system during 9 hours
