  • This research is a descriptive-qualitative study that aims to determine students' mathematical communication skills in problem-based learning of algebraic material in junior high school. The subjects of this study were students of class VII.B at Palembang Srijaya Negara Middle School. The data collection technique in this study was a written test consisting of 3 items of description and interviews as reinforcement of data from the test. Based on the results of the study, it was found that students' mathematical communication skills in problem-based learning in algebraic material in junior high school was that in students in the high category the dominant indicator appeared, namely indicators writing known and asked questions, writing mathematical symbols, drawing according to the problem, writing the formula and step and write conclusions. In students in the medium category the dominant indicator that appears are the indicator write down what is known and asked, write the formula and steps and write the conclusions. In students in the low category only appear indicators write down what is known and asked.
