PENGARUH KONDISI OPERASI DAN LUAS PERMUKAAN KATALIS Cr/KARBON AKTIF TERHADAP DENSITAS PRODUK HIDROCRACKING TANDAN KOSONG KELAPA SAWIT

- A research about influence of operating conditions and surface area of the catalyst Cr/Activated Carbon on the density of hydrocracking product palm empty fruit bunch. The hydrogen gas flow rate of 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 L/minutes, temperature variations of 500, 550, 600, 650°C and variations of catalyst surface area of 1497.07 m2/g, 1536.19 m2/g, 1544.05 m2/g, 1554.48 m2/g, 1652.58 m2/g. The results showed that the optimum condition occurred at the gas flow rate of H2 2.5 L/minutes with the hydrocracking product density of 0.9584 g/mL. The optimum temperature of the hydrocracking process was at 600 °C with density of 0.9166 g/mL. The optimum surface area of Cr/Activated Carbon catalyst was obtained 1554.48 g with density of 0.9105 g/mL. Analysis with Gas Cromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) apparatus indicates the occurrence of bond breaking as indicated by increasing number of straight chain compounds.
