PENGARUH PENYULUHAN MENGENAI AKTIVITAS FISIK TERHADAP JUMLAH LANGKAH KAKI DAN FLEKSIBILITAS OTOT PADA SISWA SMA NEGERI 5 PALEMBANG

- Background: Sedentary lifestyle has become a common problem in the world community. Many ways that can be done to follow up, one of them is by increasing physical activity. Physical activity of one of them in the form of walking. Flexibility is one component of physical fitness. Physical fitness has a relationship with physical activity and body flexibility. Counseling is one effort that can increase awareness for physical activity. This study aims to determine the effect of counseling on physical activity on the number of daily steps and muscle flexibility of high school students. Method: Experimental research with pre-test and post-test control group design was conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Palembang in October and November 2017. A total of 40 students were given information about physical activity and 40 other students did not. Then tested the flexibility with V-sit reach test method. For 1 month, the number of student’s daily steps is calculated by using the Accupedo Pedometer application. Data were analyzed with Independent t-test and paired t-test in this study. Result:There was a significant difference between the number of student’s daily steps given physical activity counseling and no counseling. Whereas in muscle flexibility, students given counseling experienced a significant change compared to non-counseled students. Conclusion: There is a significant influence from the students that were given physical activity counseling on the number of their daily steps and muscle flexibility.
