Daftar Isi:
- Free radicals which are not balanced with antioxidants can cause oxidative stress which has the potential to cause various degenerative diseases. One of the plants which have the potential to be a source of antioxidants as an antidote to free radicals is the kirinyuh's leaves. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of kirinyuh's leaves extract by in vitro testing using DPPH method and in vivo testing using TBARS method. The antioxidant activity test by in vitro testing was carried out using the DPPH free radical reduction method by determining the IC50 value of the ethanol extract of kirinyuh's leaves at concentrations of 250, 500, 750, 1000 and 1250 ppm. In vivo testing was carried out using TBARS method by measuring the decrease in the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) of mice induced by Paracetamol in the group testing positive for vitamin C and ethanol extract of the leaves of Kirinyuh at doses 125, 250 and 500 mg / KgBB using the TBARS method. The test results of antioxidant activity by in vitro testing showed that IC50 values of the ethanol extract of kirinyuh's leaves were 84.319 μg / mL, which means that they were categorized as strong antioxidants. In vivo test results showed a decrease in the levels of malondialdehyde in the positive control group, negative controls, treatment with kirinyuh's leaves ethanol extract doses of 125, 250 and 500 mg / KgBB, respectively 68.146%; 5.426%; 39,701%; 48,223% and 58,974%. Based on these results it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of kirinyuh's leaves has antioxidant activity with ED50 312,241 mg/KgBB.
