  • Background: Dental caries is one of the biggest diseases in the oral cavity that is caused by untreated conditions of dental and oral health in the society in Indonesia. Based on the National RISKESDAS of 2013 in Indonesia claimed that the national prevalence of dental and oral health problems is 4,6 and in South Sumatra has a prevalence of population with oral and dental health problems which is 5,3. A variety of functional disorders can be effected by the severity of dental caries. Dental caries is affected by sociodemographic factors. Sociodemography is the study of the structure and processes of people in a region that the changes of population structure are affected by social processes and social changes in society. Aims: To find out whether or not there was relationship among age, education level, and parent”s economy factor with dental caries incidence of the twelve-year-old children in SDN 32 Palembang 2017. Method: This study was a non experimental analytic with a cross sectional and using purposive sampling technique. Subject of this study were 49 children twelve-year-old. The incidence of dental caries was measured using a DMF-T Index based on WHO. Data were analyzed in this study using chi-square test. Result: Based on the chi-square test obtained p-value > α. There were no significant relationship between sociodemographic factors of parents such as age, educational level, and socioeconomic with dental caries incidence in twelve-year-old children at SDN 32 Palembang 2017.
