- The objective of this study to determine the growth of young palm oil trees which is planted by red chili plants in between it, with a variety of plant spacing. The research was conducted in Rimba Jaya Village, Air Kumbang Subdistrict, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatera Province. The study was conducted from October 2017 to February 2018. The design used for red chili plants was Randomized Block Design with one factor: plant spacing (M1 = 50 cm x 50 cm ; M2 = 60 cm x 60 cm ; M3 = 70 cm x 70 cm) and replicated with five blocks. The results showed that plant height, stem diameter, crown diameter and greenness of palm oil tree leaves were affected by red chilli. While on the red chili with a spacing of 50 cm x 50 cm provide a positive response to the growth and production of red chili.
