  • Self compacting concrete or called SCC is a concrete innovation to overcome the solution of difficult casting and compacting processes, especially concrete with complex reinforcement. The SCC composition uses a considerable amount of cement compared to conventional concrete in order to achieve the required flow, so there needs to be a substitution to reduce it. The SCC composition uses a considerable amount of cement, so there is a need for substitution to reduce it. With that condition, the research on SCC has evolved to reduce cement. One of them is the using of waste glass as a substitution. SCC is affected by the process of casting and curing, but in the actual condition it is usually neglected. This study was conducted to determine the effect of glass bottle powder as cement substitution on the characteristics of SCC workability and concrete compressive strength without curing. The variation of glass bottle powder use are 0%, 2.5%; 7.5%; 12.5%; and 17.5%. The results of fresh concrete test indicate that the using of glass bottle powder can decrease SCC workability, but still on the requirements. The result of the slump flow test on the highest glass percentage SCC-1 (2,5%) is decreased to 2,9% with a slump flow of 670 mm, the results of the V-Funnel test on the highest percentage of glass bottle powder SCC-1 (2,5%) isdecreased to 3.88% with 10.7 secondsflow time, and the L-Box test results on the highest percentage of glass bottle powder SCC-1 (2,5%) isdecreased to 1.15% with 0.86H2/H1 ratio. these decreases occur because the shape of glass bottles are angular shape, thereby reducing work ability. The compressive strength test results show increases up to 7,5% variation ofsubstitution of bottle powder variation on SCC-3 with compressive strength reach 55.11 Mpa or 17,65% more than SCC-0.
