- The Way Belau River estuary is a residential area with very crowded. As an area close to tourist attractions, cultivated land, and ponds, as well as sources of livelihoods of residents living nearby, the Way Belau River Estuary has the potential to increase environmental pollution, especially heavy metals such as Pb and Cd. The purpose of this research is to determine the concentration of heavy metals and to study the geochronology contained in the sediment in the Way Belau River estuary. This research has been carried out in July 2017. Determination of sampling location using purposive sampling method and sampling process using gravity core tool. ICP-OES was used for analyzing heavy metal content and the age of sediment data used as secondary data. The concentration of heavy metal Pb from 1878-1998 is 0.699-2,119 ppm and heavy metal Cd is 0,080-0,120 ppm. The increase of heavy metal Pb from 1878-1998 was 203% and the heavy metal Cd was 50%.
