  • This research is motivated by problems related to the implementation of monitoring and controlling policy of protected wildlife held by the Natural Resources Conservation Center South Sumatra as an effort to conserve natural resources and ecosystems but has not been implemented optimally. The purpose of this study was to analyze the technical implementation in the monitoring and controlling of protected animals of the implementation of monitoring and controlling policy of protected wildlife held by the Natural Resources Conservation Center South Sumatra. This study uses the theory of public policy implementation by Donald Van Meter and Carl Van Horn through six variables, namely the goal and standard of policy, resources, characteristics of implementing agency, communication between organizations, attitudes of implementers, and social, economic and political environment. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of documentation, observation and in-depth interviews. The results of the research carried out found several problems in the implementation of monitoring and controlling policy are regarding insufficient facilities and infrastructure of resources and the attitude of some people who still do not have awareness to understand the importance of preserving nature. The suggestions for the Natural Resources Conservation Center South Sumatra to complement supporting infrastructure and socializing through social media so the implementation of monitoring and controlling can run more optimally and goals that are expected to be achieved.
