  • Depression is one of the mental disorders that affect mood and the feeling of people. The problem of depression began to be a concern many parties because prevalence depression have increased from year to year. The purpose of this study knowing prevalence of depression and knowing variable related to the incident depression in Indonsia 2014. The design of the this study is cross sectional study. Using data Indonesian Family Life Survey 5 (IFLS) with a sample of the age of 15-64 years meet criteria of inclusion and exclusion as much as 24.700 which represents the household on 24 province in Indonesia. Analysis used data is analysis univariat, bivariat, and multivariat using complex sample. Analysis result univariat, prevalensi depression in Indonesia 2014 based on data IFLS with the symptoms of depression moderate and severe of 22,2 %. Analysis result bivariat this study is the relationship between age (p-value <0,0001), chronic disease (p-value<0,0001), a personality type (p-value <0,0001), the status of marriage (p-value<0,0001), the status of smoke (p-value 0,016), physical activity (p-value < 0,0001), and the status of nutrition (p-value < 0,0001) with the incident depression in Indonesia. Analysis result multivariat, based on data IFLS 2014 people who have chronic diseases category two or more 2,03 greater risk for depression compared with people who didn’t hurt after controlled by variable age, gender, a personality type, the level of education, the status of work, the status of smoke, physical activity and nutrition status ( PR=2,034; 95 % CI= 1,748-2,358 ). Chronic diseases category two or more chronic disease is a dominant factor in the incident of depression in Indonesia 2014 based on data IFLS. Direktorat Bina Pelayanan Kesehatan Jiwa advised to hold the a screening mental health as the implementation of the Pusat Pelayanan Terpadu Penyakit Tidak Menular (POSBINDU PTM) every month as an attempt promotif and prevent mental health problems such as depression.
