- This research is entitled empowering female prisoners through a sewing development program in the class IIA women's prison in Palembang. This research aims to describe the implementation of women's empowerment through sewing program s, as well as things that become the driving and inhibiting elements in carrying out these activities. This study uses a qualitative approach method with research subjects prison officers, instructors trained, and trained participants. Data is collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. All collected data were analyzed using triangulation to find out the data authenticity. The results of this study indicate that women's empowerment is carried out in the form of psychological, physical, and skill coaching so that there is a change in spiritual conditions, attitudes, and increased skills of the female prisoners, supporting factors in the implementation of women's empowerment namely the potential of female prisoners dominant to be developed and Correctional Officers who are disciplined and able to work with outside parties who provide assistance, while inhibiting factors in the implementation of guidance is still a lack of supervisors and tools used for coaching as well as female prisoners who are not included in work guidance.
