  • The study to obtain the discharge voltage characteristics of the Silicone Rubber (SiR) type polymeric insulation material which was exposed to sunlight on one side of the surface was carried out. Tests carried out on samples in the form of SiR sheets with a thickness of 1 mm. Each sample is made in sizes 50 x 50 mm. Sun exposure is done to obtain SiR isolation aging conditions using a conditioning box that is placed directly under the sun with a variation of the length of exposure time (8; 16; 24; 32; 40; 48; 56 Hours). Testing the strength of the sample in resisting stress is carried out using a needle-plane electrode system under high voltage back and forth. The results of the tests that have been carried out show that the insulation surface that undergoes an aging process has decreased the ability to withstand stress. The results of the study show that stress reduction has a strong correlation with long exposure times. If this decrease is compared with the insulation strength for the sample with normal conditions, the decrease will reach 33%, or around 1.3 kV. In this study, a significant decrease occurred after the sample had exposure to 16-24 hours, which reached 10% of the normal sample condition. While for exposures of more than 24 hours, the reduction in discharge voltage tends to be more gentle with small delta (slope).
