  • Arthropods have very important roles in the lowland paddy agroecosystems. Based on its role in the lowland paddy agroecosystem, arthropods can be divided into predatory arthropods, fitofag insects, parasitoid, and neutral. From these roles, fitofag insects is the most potential to distrupt paddy growth and production. So far, farmers still depends on synthetic insecticides which can actually pollute the environment and kill other useful arthropods. The other side, using bioinsecticide of entomopathogenis fungi can be used as an alternative to controlling the number of fitofag insects. Several previous research mentioned that the use of bioinsecticide is safe for the environment and doesn’t affect to other useful arthropods like predators and parasitoids. The aim of this research was to determined the effect of bioinsecticide of entomopathogenic fungi on the abundance and diversity of canopy arthropods species in main and ratoon paddy. This research was carried out inthe fresh swampland paddy fields, Pelabuhan Dalam Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatera. This research was conducted in the main and ratoon paddy season, starting from April to December 2019. This research used net sampling methods with randomized block design with four (4) treatments. The treatments consisted of bioinsecticide from Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae, Cordyceps militarisfungi, and insecticide with active ingredients as abamectin as control variable. Eacg treatment was repeated 3 times. The results of the research the abundance and diversity of fitofag insects and other canopy arthropods showed that the abundance of arthropods in the main paddy was higher than that the ratoon paddy. On the fields applied to bioinsecticide, the abundance fitofag insects increases along with an increase the abundance of predatory arthropods. Treatments of bioinsenticide from Metarhizium anisopliaefungi can reduce the abundance and diversity fitofag insects but does not reduce the abundance and diversity of predatory arthropods. Fields applied with abamectin is able to reduce not only the abundance and diversity fitofag insects but also other useful arthropods. Keywords: Arthropods, Entomopatogenic Fungi, Freshwater swamp
