Effect of Varieties and Sylver Plastic Mulch on the Insidence and Intensity of Viral Disease of Chili (Supervised by Suparman SHK) The problem often faced by Indonesian chili farmers is the attack of plant-disturbing organisms (OPT). Chili (Capsicum spp) is a major commodity that is very much demanded by people around the world, especially in Indonesia. But now the price of chili on the market is increasing due to the lack of chili productivity in Indonesia. One of the causes of low chilli productivity are pest and disease. One of the diseases that attack chili is a virus. The virus disease is considered an important disease or a major pest in chili plants because it can reduce the productivity of chili and harm the chili farmers. This study aims to determine the effect of varieties and silver-colored plastic mulch on the incidence and intensity of viral diseases of chili. The method used in this study is RALF (Factorial Complete Randomized Design) with 2 factors, namely factor of mulch (silver plastic mulch, without mulch) and factor of chili varieties (Capsicum anuum and Capsicum frutescens), each consisting of two levels and repeated 5 times. This research was carried out in the experimental field of the Department of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from August to November 2019. The use of plastic mulch has no effect oin suppressing the intensity and incidence of plant virus diseases. Symptoms of the disease are caused by the Gemini virus and the Curly Virus in chili plants. At the observation of 14 weeks after planting cayenne pepper plants (C. frutescens) which were given silver plsatik mulch had a disease intensity level of 72.27%.
