  • This research was done to find out the influence of Directed Reading Thinking Activity toward the ability to comprehend the Folklore text of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 13 Palembang. Experimental Strategy was used to conduct this research. Random sampling method was used to define the sample. There were 36 students of X.1 class in experimental groupwhich taught by directed reading thinking activity strategy, meanwhile there were 36 students of X.2 class in control group. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 20 version. The result of this study showed that there was significant difference between experimental group and control group. The result of experimental group showed that the average score of pre-test was 51,94 meanwhile the average score control group was 48,75. The average score of post test of experimental group was 72,50meanwhile the average of control group was 54,72. Based on the T-test it showed that T score > T table = 17,778 > 15,225 with df=35 and reach 95% (a=0,025). In short, the used of Directed Reading Thinking Activity Strategy Influenced the students ability to comprehend the folklore text of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 13 Palembang.
