- Unbalanced loads are caused by uneven distribution of loads between phases. In addition, the unbalanced load can also be caused by unequal electricity consumption of each consumer and different ignition timing. This study aims to determine the effect and how to overcome the load imbalance to neutral currents and conductor losses in I.427’s distribution transformer, and to determine the magnitude of power losses in phase and neutral conductors due to unbalanced loads. In I.427’s distribution transormer, there are 4 departments, each consisting of R, S, T phases and Neutral. This study was conducted by measuring the voltage and current per phase, calculating the average load and then equalizing the load. Next, calculate the losses on cables, both before and after the equalization load. From the results of calculations that have been done, losses obtained before and after the load are equalized by 4.75% and 4.71%, so it can be reduced the power losses by 0.04%. This result can make electricity more effective because less power is wasted compare to when the load has not been equalized.
