  • The research location is a coal company located in Merapi Barat District, Lahat Regency, South Sumatra Province. Stripping of PT Bumi Merapi Energi's overburden experienced a problem with not achieving the target, because excavator productivity was not optimal. Material hardness is a major factor in high digging time which causes low excavator productivity. The ripping method will be applied to increase excavator productivity so that the stripping target can be achieved. D-R5 Komatsu D 375 A and Ripper Komatsu D 155 A were chosen as rakes to be used due to the specifications of both which are in accordance with the material conditions. This research was conducted to examine the performance of Komatsu D 375 and Komatsu D 155 A technically and economically so that it can be known which Ripper is more suitable for use at PT Bumi Merapi Energi. The results of this training state that both types of ripper technically include to increase the production of excavator stripping, and economically ripper Komatsu D155A is cheaper to operate with stripping prices of Rp 2.967.100.000,00 / year and Komatsu D375A is Rp 4.079.900.000,00 / year.
