  • The development of an increasingly modern era resulted in the world experiencing three major crises, one of which is an energy source. Indonesia is a country that has many sources of energy such as natural gas, petroleum, water energy, geothermal, and coal, but has not been utilized optimally, especially coal energy sources. Coal in Indonesia is of average low quality coal and has not been used evenly, especially in the South Sumatra region. One of the uses of coal can be done in several ways and methods, one of which is coal gasification. Coal gasification technology is a process of converting coal from solid fuels into gas fuels or combustible gases. In this study the coal gasification process uses 14 kg MT-46 type of coal per test with an average operating time of 173 to 180 minutes and a different flame length of about 168 to 175 minutes. The results of this test address the value of the gasification air mass mass flow rate of 8.5 kg / h, the value of the fuel mass flow rate of 4.6 to 4.8 kg / h and the gasification gas mass flow rate value of 11.55 kg / h each time of testing, with a value of the ratio of air and fuel gasification (A / F) 1.7 to 1.8, the value of the equivalence ratio between 0.23 to 0.25 gas produced is a combustible gas with the presentation of fuel savings for testing without load 14, 69%, load 300 watt 15.79%, load 500 watt 16.57%, load 700 watt 16.42%, load 1000 watt 13.15%.
