  • TPA II Karya Jaya is one of the garbage disposal sites that is still operating actively in Palembang City. TPA II Karya Jaya is a type of controled landfill with the risk of anaerobic decomposition of increasing activity to produce hydrogen sulfide gas after the landfill process. The study aimed to analyze environmental health risks of hydrogen sulfide exposure to scavengers around TPA II Karya Jaya. The research is descriptive using quantitative analysis methods. The approach used is the method of Environmental Health Risk Analysis (ARKL). Samples taken by simple random sampling were 35 scavengers. Data analysis was carried out namely univariate analysis and risk analysis. The measurement results showed an average concentration of hydrogen sulfide of 0.0190 mg / m3. The calculation of the intake value for realtime on average is 0,000470 and the average lifetime 0,00141. The conclusion of this study indicate that exposure to hidrogen sulfide in TPA II Karya Jaya has caused non-carcinogenic health risks (RQ > 1) to 12 respondents (34,9%) in realtime and 35 respondents (100%) at lifetime so that they enter into the category of insecurity and risk management need to be done, for scavengers it is recommended to use Personal Protector Equipment (PPE) as a minimum, especially masks during work and for the Departement of Enviroment and Cleanliness of Palembang City it is recommended to periodically monitor air quality related to harmful gases in the air.
