  • Tidal swamps are a strategic choice as an agricultural production area. Mulia Sari Village and Banyu Urip Tanjung Lago District Banyuasin District. This study aims to study the physical and chemical properties and evaluate land suitability in increasing tidal land productivity in watermelon plants in Mulya Sari Village and Banyu Urip Village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency. This research was carried out in August 2018 until it was completed in Desa Mulya Sari Village and Banyu Urip Village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin District with a detailed level survey method using a 1: 6000 scale map on an area of 4 hectares with 4 observation points. Soil characteristics observed include effective root depth, state of pyrite, nutrient (N, P, K) pH and CEC. Results At the research locations in the villages of Mulia Sari and Banyu urip, the actual suitability class was S3r-n, meaning that it was not in accordance with the limiting factor for nutrient retention (soil pH). Tidal swamp land has the potential to be developed for watermelon plants by overcoming its limiting factors including soil reaction (pH) and P. nutrient.
