- Bengkulu Province has reached the top ten provinces with most law-abiding citizen to public service standard. However, there hasn’t been any place for public service activities center. The government discusses the existence of public services in Bengkulu as a substitute for Pasar Barukoto that located in the cultural heritage area in order to increase the vitality of the area. Public Service Center aims to provide ease and convenience in managing important documents. However, sometimes people still complain about the inconvenience and even get lost of direction in the building. In order to achieve the right goal, a Public Service Center needs to give convenience, easier, and clearer direction and accessibility for users both inside and oustide of the building. It’s applied in building by separating the functions of front office and back office bound by the intermediary space. Located in cultural heritage area with colonial style, this building uses contextualism architecture so the facade design harmonizes with buildings around it. The elements that are used in the building come from iconic column ornamentation, curved gates and bubungan lima roof. The site is designed as transition between settlements and cultural heritage buildings that includes circulation and orientation. This transition made of an inner court and amphitheater leads building to the cultural heritage side. Simplicity of the structure and dilation are also applied because the site is located in earthquake prone area.
