  • Coral disease has significantly reduced the diversity and abundance of reef-producing corals. One of the many coral diseases that attack the reefs in the Indo-Pacific region is White Band Disease (WBD) and Black Band Disease (BBD). This study aims to determine the prevalence of White Band Disease (WBD) and Black Band Disease (BBD) coral diseases and identify coral diseases and correlations between aquatic parameters and coral diseases in the waters of Sebesi Island Marine Protection Area, South Lampung. This research was conducted in August 2018 in the waters of Sebesi Island Marine Protection Area using belt transect method with modification of a 5x2 m2 plot at 4 observation stations and direct measurements of physical - chemical parameters of the water and repeated 3 times. Correlation analysis between water parameters and coral diseases was carried out using principal component analysis (PCA) with the XLSTAT application. The prevalence is calculated using the prevalence formula, namely the number of healthy or sick colonies divided by the total number of colonies on the transect multiplied by 100. The prevalence of WBD coral disease in Sebesi Island waters is 3.7%, while the BBD coral prevalence value is 0.7%. The results of observations in the waters of Sebesi Island found that there were 6 types of coral diseases that infected 3 different types of coral at each station. Correlation of water parameters and coral disease in the waters of Sebesi Island is characterized by water parameters which include temperature, salinity and current velocity.
