  • This research is a descriptive research that aims to determine students' mathematical problem-solving skills after using learning with the open-ended approach in SMP Negeri 17 Palembang and to determine the application of the open-ended approach at SMPN 17 Palembang. The subjects of this study were students of class VII.6 at SMP Negeri 17 Palembang, totaling 32 people. The data used in this study are test data used to obtain data on the results of students' mathematical problem-solving skills and observation data to see the feasibility of learning with an open-ended approach. The results of this study indicate that the mathematical problem-solving skills of students at SMP Negeri 17 Palembang has an average of 65.8 categorized as good with details: 37.5% categorized as very good, 21.87% categorized as good, 25% categorized as sufficient, and 15.63% categorized as less. From the observational data, the application of the open-ended approach in SMP Negeri 17 Palembang was well implemented.
