  • The research objective is to determine relationship between perceived parenting styles towards the prejudice of Chinese ethnic students. The study hypothesis of the study is that perceived parenting styles has no role on the prejudice of Chinese ethnic students. The population of this research was all Chinese ethnic students at the X University with an unknown number of population and samples. The research sample was 100 people, and for the trial (try out) as many as 50 people using incidental sampling techniques. The measuring instrument uses the scale of perceived parenting styles by referring to dimensions of Baumrind parenting styles and components of prejudice from Aronson. Data analysis uses Spearman Rank correlation technique. The result obtained by value of significance value in authroitative style is 0,267 (P>0,05) and the significance value in permissive style is 0,626 (P>0,05). The results did not prove that authoritative parenting style and permissive parenting style have relationship towards the prejudice of Chinese ethnic students at the Sriwijaya University.Thus the hypothesis is denied.
