- Introduction: Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria. BTA sputum examination is the gold standart to diagnosis of TB, whereas radiographic examination is the investigation that is carried out based on indications. This research aims to determine the distribution of pulmonary TB patients based on risk factors and clinical symptoms and the relationship of thorax imaging with the results of sputum smear examination in adults patient with clinical pulmonary tuberculosis in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Methods: The research from 63 medical records of patients with clinical pulmonary tuberculosis had BTA sputum examination and thorax imaging in the period 2018- 1 June 1 June 2019 at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. The relationship between the results of thorax imaging and BTA sputum examination results were analyzed using the chi square test. Results: From 63 research samples, the largest age range for pulmonary TB patients was 36-45 years (late adulthood) (25.45%), males (68.3%) more than females, more education was found in high school (54 %) and self-employed (23.8%) constitute the most occupations of pulmonary tuberculosis patients. Non-productive cough (49,20) is the most complained clinical symptom. Bivariate analysis results obtained p value 0.027 and r = 0.357. Conclusion: There is a relationship significant between thorax imaging and result of BTA sputum examination in adult patients with clinical pulmonary tuberculosis at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang.
