  • Battery is an electrical instrument which used as a power supply for protection instrument to make the protection system running well if there is any disruption. A battery cell performance could be affected by the electrolyte temperature then its affect the specific gravity of electrolyte also the output voltage. Thus, power efficiency of battery cell also could be changed. Because of that, the writer conducted a research about the changing effect of electrolyte temperature and specific gravity on the output voltage and power efficiency in Battery Unit 4 LBA 110 VDC PT. PLN (Persero) UPK Bukit Asam. The results show that the output voltage produced 2.23 Volt when the electrolyte temperature and specific gravity is about 24°C and 1.26 kg/L, meanwhile, the output voltage produced 0.13 Volt when the electrolyte temperature and specific gravity is about 55.3°C and 0.90 kg/L. Then, in power efficiency of discharging battery, the best efficiency produced 90.73 % when the amount of output voltage is about 105.7 Volt, while the lowest efficiency produced 81.46 % when the amount of output voltage is about 94.9 Volt. Obviously, that the output voltage, capacity, and efficiency on battery are affected by the electrolyte temperature and specific gravity.
