  • Diarrhea is still a serious problem in the village of Lingga Muara Enim which based on data from polindes Lingga found that there were 55,06% children suffer the incidence of diarrhea. The condition of the village which is an area of water, so people use river water to meet sanitary hygiene needs and other needs. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between sources of clean water and maternal behavior with the incidence of diarrhea in children under five years (6-58 months) in the village of Lingga Muara Enim. This research is an analitical study with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study were all children under five years (6-59 months) with a total sample of 57 peoples. The data used in this study is secondary data from relevant institutions and primary data obtained through interviews, and bacteriologis quality testing of river water at 5 points using MPN method. The results showed that 56,1% of children with diarrhea. And based on the results of laboratory testing, five samples of river water did not meet health requirements. The bivariate result analysis of the significance level of 5% showes that there is a correlation between the source of clean water with incidence of diarrhe.. Maternal behavioral factors related to diarrhea include variable sources of clean water (p-value 0,002), the habit of washing hands with soap (p-value 0,000), ASI exclusive (p-value 0,002), measles immunization (p-value 0,023). The conclusion is there a correlation between sources of clean water and maternal behavior with the incidence of diarrhea in children under five years (6-58 months) in the village of Lingga Muara Enim. It is expected that effective prevention of diarrhea and special attention from the community and health centers.
