  • Retinal disease is an eye retina disorder that affects the vision of an individual. Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes caused by defects or irregularities such as exudates and retinal vessels. Exudate is one of the signs that causes diabetic retinopathy. The existence of an exudate can be marked by the appearance of a yellowish fundus color image of different sizes and shapes. Difficulties in exudate detection are caused by a light brightness comparable to the optical disk (blind spot retina) but smaller than the optical disk. This study uses the database of dibetic retinopathy datasets (DIARETDB1). In the process through several stages such as the process of green channel, region of interest, illumination correction, contrast stretching, circular hough, region filling, with otsu multi-thresholding and active contour segmentation. The results of this study of the otsu multi thresholding method have an accuracy of 95.95%, a sensitivity of 96.63% and a sensitivity of 49.55% and an active contour method have an accuracy of 90.71%, a sensitivity of 93.81% and a sensitivity of 35.15 %. The results obtained from the two methods are the otsu multi thresholding method with a greater parameter results compared to the results of the active contour method.
