  • The study aimed to determine the physical characteristics of an activated zeolite of absorbent in various particle size using tanin adhesive material. This research was conducted in October 2018 until June 2019 in the workshop of the Agricultural Engineering Study Program of Sriwijaya University, laboratory of Biosystems and palm oil Panrik (PKS) PT. Plantation Nusantara VII Talang Sawit Regency Musi Banyuasin South Sumatera. This research uses was designed as a factorial complete random design with two factors of particle size treatment consisting of three levels of 80 mesh, 120 mesh, and 160 mesh and the length of immersion time in CPO consisting of 4 levels (1 , 3, 5 , and 8 hours). The parameters, namely free fatty acid content, viscosity, density, color, and adsorption capacity. The results of this research showed that the particle size and the length of immersion of adsorbent in CPO had a significant impact on the free fatty acids content in CPO, viscosity, density and color of CPO. The best treatment was found in the combination of A3B4 (160 mesh and 8 hours) with a decrease in the free fatty acid levels of 1.00%, while the lowest rate of free fatty acid levels is found in the A1B1 treatment with free fatty acid of 0.30%.
