  • This research was aims to know the influence azolla compost, husk charcoal, and combination of azolla compost and husk charcoal to soil and plant nitrogen content, the growth and yield of paddy (Oryza sativa L.) in non tidal swamp soil. This research was conducted at Green House Departement of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya from December 2016 until March 2017. Analysis of N-total soil and plants was conducted in Chemistry Laboratory, Biology, and Soil Fertility, Department of Soil and Plant Physiology Laboratory of Agriculture Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The research used is Complete Random Design Factorial consisting of two factors: Factor I is dosage azolla compost (A): dosage level a0: 0 ton ha-1 (0 g 10 kg of soil-1), a1: 5 ton ha-1 (25 g 10 kg of soil-1), a2: 10 ton ha-1 (50 g 10 kg of soil-1), and a3: 15 ton ha-1 (75 g 10 kg of soil-1). Factor II is dosage of husk charcoal (S): dosage level s0: 0 ton ha-1 (0 g 10 kg soil-1), s1: 5 ton ha-1 (25 g 10 kg of soil-1), s2: 10 ton ha-1 (50 g 10 kg of soil-1), and s3: 15 ton ha-1 (75 g 10 kg of soil-1). The results showed that the dosage of azolla compost 15 ton ha-1 had no significant effect on N-total of soil. However, it gives a marked effect on paddy height, dry weight of harvested grain, and dry weight of rice plants in non tidal swamp soil. Giving dose of husk charcoal 15 ton ha-1 has no significant effect on N-total of soil. However, it has a marked effect on paddy height and dry grain weight of paddy in non tidal swamp soil. Combination of dosage azolla compost 15 ton ha-1 and husk charcoal 15 ton ha-1 tends to increase the weight of dry grain of rice crop in non tidal swamp soil.
