- Identification of Total Organic Carbon (TOC) distribution from 2D seismic data has been done by using acoustic impedance (AI) technique. A TOC log estimated by using density log (RhoB) and laboratory TOC, porosity log( NPHI), Gamma Ray and sonic log (P-wave) to determine the target area of the study. The inversion method of acoustic impedance has been used a model based inversion. The initial model of the acoustic impedance made shows a fairly good vertical correlation and lateral spread in the prospect zone. The results of the model-based inversion are used to see the TOC distribution ranges from 3% to 6% and porosity ranges from 40% to 60% of the laterally distributed 2D seismic section depth which is estimated from the manufacture of AI vs TOC And Ai vs Porosity crossplots in Talang Akar formation, Sumatera Selatan Basin.
