FAKTOR–FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI TINGKAT PANGAN TAK-TERKONSUMSI PADA RUMAH TANGGA DI KECAMATAN LAWANG KIDUL KABUPATEN MUARA ENIM

- The purposes of this research were: (1) to describe the process of food waste; (2) to estimate the amount of food waste; (3) to identify the food waste contributor; (4) to analyze factors that influence food waste; and (5) to describe the handling of food waste. Research on factors that influence households food waste was executed in Lawang Kidul District Muara Enim in April 2016. The method used in this research was survey. The method used to select the area was cluster sampling. In this research, food waste referred to rice waste produced by household. Reducing food waste is one of the efforts to realize national food security. The result showed that: (1) the process of food waste on households started from food (rice) consumption was conducted by household members in the primary meal the day or night. Primary meal and also a kind of side dishes/vegetables was consumed proved affecting appetite so that tend the cause of food waste in household; (2) average amount of household food waste in Lawang Kidul district was 161,807332 ton/year; (3) food waste contributors about 57,5 percent were young age (0-14 years old) and about 42,5 percent were productive age (15-64 years old); 4) the factors that has positive impact over to food waste quantity are family regulation regarding food waste, total expenditure, and income but the factors that has negative impact over to food waste quantity are meal time, age of food waste contributor, food expenditure, education of family head and ethnic and; (5)the manner of handling food waste among others were; (a) used as cattle feed; (b) discarded as rubbish and; (c) use as organic fertilizer.
