  • The research aims to determine the improvement of learning outcomes on the chemistry subject for X.D class students of YSP Pusri high school Palembang by applying the probing-prompting technique. The method used in this research is a classroom action research, carried out by two cycles. The data collection technique was performed by using achievement test at the end of the cycle. The average score of students’ learning outcomes before the action carried out (T0) is 61.60 and the mastery learning outcomes by 44%, while the average score of students’ learning outcomes in the first cycle (T1) is 64.80 with the mastery learning outcomes by 60% , and the average score of students’ learning outcomes in the second cycle (T2) increased to 78.30 with the mastery learning outcomes by 88%. The result of the research indicating that T2 > T1 > T0 so that it can be said that the probing-prompting technique may improve the learning outcomes on the chemistry subject for X.D class students of YSP Pusri high school Palembang. It is recommended for the teachers to use more varied strategies, models, and techniques in the learning process.
