- Multinomial logistic regression is used to find the relationship between the nominal categorical response variable with three or more explanatory and categorical explanatory variables. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the decision of cellular operator selection. This research was conducted on the active student of academic year 2016/2017 even semester of Faculty of Mathematics of Sriwijaya University. The number of samples used is 322 students. Sampling is done by using proportional sampling and accidental sampling. Method used is multinomial logistic regression analysis using backward elimination procedure. The results showed that there are four factors that significantly affect the decision of the selection of mobile operators namely majors, prices, signals and services. The model obtained is quite accurate in predicting the model with the predicted accuracy of 57.1%. The small precision of classification is probably due to the lack of predictor variables that can be represented to model factors affecting cellular operator selection decisions on students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Sriwijaya University.
