  • Clay soils is commonly found in South Sumatera. This type of soil is well-known for its high compressibility, low bearing capacity, and low shear strength which makes it often improved in the first place. Soil improvement technique used in this research is chemical stabilization on soil samples by using rice husk ash and renolith as additive agent. In this research, the substitution of rice husk ash for soil samples used four variations including, 4%, 8%, 12%, and 16% with renolith for 5% of weight of rice husk ash added. Samples were investigated after cured for 0 day, 7 days, and 14 days. Variation of 16% substitution of rice husk ash without renolith added showed the optimum improvement on CBR value for 23% with 372, 279% increase. Another variation which consisted of mixture of 4% substitution of rice husk ash and 5% renolith, also showed an improvement on CBR value for 3% with 555,439% increase. In conclude, substitution of 16% rice husk ash without renolith added and mixture of 4% substitution of rice husk ash and 5% renolith added suggested as an variation with optimum formula for enhancing clay soils CBR value.
