- Palembang is one area that often encounters flood. On February 21st, 2013, there was a phenomena happened in Palembang that was the water in Musi river overflew. Based on BMKG SMB II Palembang monitoring, it happened as the result of the full moon which caused flood tide in Palembang and it made the water bottled up from went in the direction of ocean. The tidal nature happens periodically. This can be correlated to the flood phenomena happened in Palembang, in the future there is a possibility the flood will occur again seeing from tidal aspect as the cause. That phenomena becomes the reason in doing this research which aims to analyzing the tidal component with Least Square method and analyzing the tidal repetition period in Boom Baru and Tanjung Buyut with Gumbel method. This research was conducted in September 2013 in the Remote Sensing and Marine Acoustics Laboratory Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty Sriwijaya University. The tidal data was obtained from monitoring result of Pelindo II Palembang branch. The data was analyzed by using least square method and Gumbel. Based on the analysis result the researcher obtained that the K1 and O1 components were more dominant than others. The propagation pattern in both water happened from Tanjung Buyut heading to Boom Baru. The tidal type in both water based on the analysis result are diurnal tide. The tidal forecasting result was that the tidal forecasting was more accurate in Tanjung Buyut water 80,47% than Boom Baru 76,57%, and the probability of passing water MSL level is the greater repetition period with 2,25 years period in Boom Baru and 2,43 years in Tanjung Buyut.
