  • Successful research has been conducted on the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes in the Optical Devices material at SMA Negeri 3 Tanjung Raja. The research objective is to determine whether there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes in the Optical Devices material at SMA Negeri 3 Tanjung Raja. The research method used was quasi-experimental research with a nonequivalent control group design study conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Tanjung Raja. The sample selected in this study consisted of 2 classes. The experimental class was XI IPA 2 which housed 27 people and the control class was XI IPA 1, amounting to 28 people. Data collection techniques in this study used a test instrument in the form of a matter of description. From the results of the study obtained an average of 33.8 experimental class pre-test and 30.6 control class. After being given treatment, the experimental class's average post-test results were 69.7 and the control class was 56.4. From the two data it can be seen that the average increase in learning outcomes of the experimental class is 35.8, whereas in the control class it is only 25.7. Improved learning outcomes occur in the experimental class and control class, but the increase in learning outcomes of the experimental class is greater than the control class. The z-test results obtained Zhitung ≥ Ztable. Based on the analysis of the gain data in the t test obtained 3,316 ≥ 2.96. These results indicate that there is an influence of problem based learning models on student learning outcomes.
