  • This study is titled the familiarity of the family of a married couple who do not have off spring in Tanjung Bulan Village, Kota Agung Subdistrict, Lahat Regency, South Sumatra. This study examines the problem of how the interaction of married couples who do not have offspring and how the meaning or value of children in the family of married couples who have no off spring. This research is flexible or possible to be changed to adjust from the plan that has been made, with the symptoms that exist in the actual research site. Theory used in the research is Herbert Blummer's symbolic interactionalism theory. In determining the informants, the purposive objective was used to obtain more detailed information in accordance with the problems of the researcher. The strategy used in this study is the phenomenology research strategy, with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the absence of children in a married couple does not become a factor in the family's inharmonious family life. If both of them can understand each other and love each other it can create intimacy in the household. This situation is seen in husband and wife couples who still survive a relatively long marriage.
