- Visual impairment is someone who has impaired or obstacle to the sense of sight. The level of oral hygiene of visual impairment children is worse than normal children. This is due to limitations of cognitive and motor development in visual impairment children. Parents have a role to guide and educate children in maintaining oral hygiene. The way parents teach and guide children is called parenting style. Parenting style is a determining factor in the formation of behavior that supports or doesn’t support children in maintaining oral hygiene.The objective of this study was to determine the relationship parenting style and level of oral hygiene of visual impairment children in SLB-A PRPCN Palembang. This study was an observational analytic with a cross sectional design and using sampling methods were purposive sampling. Subjects were 30 children that their OHI-S indexes were examined and their parents were given the PCPR questionnaire contained 32 questions to determine parenting styled used. Data analyzed using Chi-Square test. In the chi-square Asymptotic sig. (2-sided) test values of relationship between parenting style and OHI-S level was 0,880 (p>0,05). There was no significant relationship between parenting style and OHI-S level on visual impairment children in SLB-A PRPCN Palembang.
