  • The objectives of the research were to design an automatic Vanname (Litopenaeus vannamei) shrimp grader by using microcontroller and sensor load cell based on shrimp’s weight. The research used descriptive method and experimental method, whereas data was presented in tables and graphs. The research and design of equipment were conducted through several stages. These stages were consisted of data collection, design, fabrication, testing and data analysis. The observed parameters were working power, accuracy and precision of equipment. The results showed that the automatic grader could operate properly. The working power of unloaded grader was 0.25 watt, while the average working power of loaded grader was 2.18 watt. The accuracy of testing grader scales was 99.77% compared to digital scales and the percent recovery was 99.93%. The accuracy during the grader operation by using 5 shrimps having grade of S, M and L was 80%. The precision testing used 5 samples of shrimps having grade of S, M and L with 5 replications was 99.62% and the coefficient of variation was 0.487%.
