UJI KINERJA KONTROL SUHU DAN TEKANAN PADA ALAT PENGERING VAKUM BERBASIS MIKROKONTROLER AVR ATMEGA16 (STUDI KASUS: UBI JALAR UNGU)

- Vacuum drying was a drying method where the evaporation of water on the foods was under low pressure and less or no oxygen state. The objective of this research was to control temperature and pressure system on vacuum dryer based on microcontroller ATMega16 with purple sweet potato as product tester. The research was conducted at Laboratory of Biosystem, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University Indralaya from May 2016 until February 2017. The research consisted of 4 stages, that were tool operation system, control system design, tool operation, and tool testing. Parameters observed were accuracy of microcontroller, water content, and power supply needed. The result showed temperature and pressure controller on vacuum dryer based on microcontroller ATMega16 could operate properly in accordance with temperature and pressure determined. Dryer operated in range of 69°C-71°C at 70°C with pressure of -20cmHg in range -21cmHg to -20cmHg, temperature of 70°C on pressure of -27cmHg in range of 69°C-72°C and -28cmHg to -27cmHg, and 69°C-70°C for temperature of 70°C on pressure of -34cmHg in pressure range of -35cmHg to -34cmHg. Drying result using vacuum dryer on controlled temperature and pressure could decreasing water content of purple sweet potato until 8.95% in 15 minutes. Power consumption during temperature and pressure test on vacuum dryer for 15 minutes was 0.175 kWh.
