  • The objective of this research was to know the effect of nitrogen and organic fertilizer application on microbes population in paddy and ratoon on tidal land. This research has been conducted on tidal land at Desa Sumber Mulya, Kecamatan Muara Telang, Kabupaten Banyuasin South Sumatra and in the Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology and Soil Fertility Soil Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This research began from December 2012 to July 2013. The method of this research used Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD-F) with two factors. The first factor was the frequency of nitrogen fertilizer application which consisted of three levels. They were Adose of organic fertilizer which consisted of three levels. They were 0 ton ha. Each treatment combination was repeated 3 times, so the total was 27 treatments. 1 (twice), A2 (three times) and A3 (four times) with dose 200 kg Urea ha-1. The second factor was the -1, 2,5 ton ha-1 and 5 ton ha-1Observed variables measured were initial soil analysis, bacteria and fungi population in primordial, main crop and ratoon harvest of paddy, and production of main crop paddy and ratoon. The results of this research showed that the effect of nitrogen fertilizer application frequency was not significant to increase bacteria and fungi population. The effect of organic fertilizer was significant for ratoon grain dry weight, but it was not significant to increase bacteria and fungi population. Combination of organic fertilizer with dose 5 ton ha-1 and nitrogen fertilizer frequency applicated four times (O2A3) showed the highest for bacteria population in main crop paddy and ratoon harvest, also paddy grain dry weight.
